SANDAKAN: A worker was seriously injured after being mauled by a crocodile when he was feeding the reptile at a crocodile farm in Batu 8 near here, yesterday. In the 1.45pm incident, the 35-year-old man lost his left leg and broke his right arm during the attack. He was rushed to the Duchess of Kent Hospital and was reported to be in critical condition. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin said the victim was a part-time worker and was a trainee at the bird show section. “He had taken a chicken carcass to the crocodile show area. While feeding one of the crocodiles, he rubbed its nose, prompting the reptile to pounce on him. “A witness chased the crocodile away and the victim was released,” he said, adding the victim was immediately taken to the hospital. The farm manager then lodged a police report. It was learnt that the victim has been working at the farm for six months and that his contract is supposed to end next month. -
