The CPN (UML) has welcomed the announcement of the date for local bodies’ election by the government.The main opposition party, the CPN (UML), has also demanded that the government now make all necessary preparations for holding the local polls in the scheduled date.Talking to RSS after the announcement of the date, CPN (UML) Vice-Chairman Bhim Bahadur Rawal said, “The election must be held on the scheduled date.”He further said that the report of the Local Level Restructuring Commission should be sent to Election Commission after approving it soon.Responding to a query, he said although the CPN (UML) was of the stance that the constitution amendment proposal would not favour the nation, the party was ready to hold discussion on it.Similarly, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has welcomed the announcement of the date for local poll.Talking to RSS, RPP Chairman Kamal Thapa urged all political parties to create environment conducive to elections as well as to bring the Madhes-based parties on board by taking them into confidence.Meanwhile, Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has welcomed the announcement of the May 14 as the date for local elections and appealed to all to work together to hold the elections as scheduled. Responding to a query over the announcement of programmes of protest by the Madhesi morcha, leader Poudel said the Nepali Congress will continue to work to address the demands of the front. “The front also needs to take part in the elections, as that is what the country needs. We will make an effort to bring them on board,” he said. -
