KATHMANDU: The Good Governance and Monitoring Committee of the Parliament on Sunday decided to summon Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to the panel to explain the delay in appointment of the Inspector General of Nepal Police and the Chief at Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority.

The Prime Minister has been called to present at the panel’s meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

The government has failed to appoint the Nepal Police chief after the Supreme Court revoked its February 12 decision to promote DIG Jaya Bahadur Chand to the position on March 21.

The national police force is currently under the reigns of AIG Dinesh Chandra Pokhrel, a medical doctor who had been leading the Nepal Police Hospital, since IG Upendra Kant Aryal retired in February.

Likewise, the anti-corruption constitutional body is headless since the Supreme Court removed Lok Man Singh Karki from the position citing his disqualification for the top job as mandated by the Constitution on January 8.
